Oxide polishing compounds – Aluminium oxide powder.

Aluminum oxide or alumina is available in both powder form or as a aqueous suspension.

It is also available in both Gamma & Alpha versions. These have different crystal structures with the alpha alumina being the hardest of the two variants. The Alpha alumina is available as a suspension in grades 5 um, 1 um and 0.3 um. The gamma alumina is available at a grade of 0.05 um.

In powder form the Alpha alumina is available in 1.0 um and 0.3 um grades with the gamma alumina available in 0.05 um.

The 0.3 um alumina is ideal for grinding applications using a hard cloth such as Planocloth in particular in the preparation of carbon fibre composites where its sharper crystal structure cuts better than diamond.

The 0.05 um alumina on a soft napped cloth such as Memphis is ideal for the fine polishing of ferrite in steels.

Available in 500 g or 2.0 kg container.
